    Solved Password Protected/Members Only Forums

Post by Emerald Whitehart March 3rd 2013, 5:49 am

So I just created a Harry Potter Role-Play forum and I would like a way to password protect the common rooms. I know this question has been asked before and one or two of them had links and I tried to go to the link:

    http://www.malware-site.www/t42-how-to-password-protect-a-forum

but this is what I get:

    Password Protected/Members Only Forums Untitl10

If I remember correctly there is also a way that I can make those forums/sub-forums hidden from specific groups. (i.e. A Slytherin student would be able to see the Slytherin forum and sub-forums but wouldn't be able to see the other houses) I thought that I had figured it out but all I ended up doing was stopping "students" ability to post special messages in a house that wasn't their own. Is there any help that anyone can give me please and thanks Smile

    Hi! Very Happy

Of course you can set permissions to each group. Go to:
Administration Panel ~> General ~> Forum ~> Categories and forums ~> Password Protected/Members Only Forums Perms ~> View and read, Write and reply: check only the groups you want. Wink

So I tried what you said but the only things I can change for specific groups are: Create a sticky message, Create an announce - global announcement, Create an event (calendar), and Moderate.

View the forum (which is the main one I want to uncheck) is grey and checked meaning I can't uncheck it...
