    Post by cookiemonster395 April 2nd 2013, 3:06 pm

This seems to be an ongoing problem that is creating a lot of disruption for users wanting to access the forum from their android/smart phones.

I first brought this to your attention HERE

    And then again HERE

This latest redirection is taking us our members to their App Store

    HERE

We're a UK forum and this is a screen shot of the page directed to

I've never had any problems myself with the link, but I don't use the mobile version often, so I could be missing something. Do you know if you have any ad.fly links on your forum? Ad.fly is know to cause these kinds of problems.

The problems have been resolved by Leeloo previously. The problem is not with the forum

To quote Leeloo for the previous redirections caused:

Leeloo wrote:Our ads provider seems to be responsible of this redirection (I guess it can be due to the keywords of the forum).

Its also being brought to my attention which is most disturbing to our members and I do not wish to follow the link nor screen shot it or post a link here for fear of youngsters maybe on the forum but they're being directed also and most importantly to a site called 'Pornbuzz'.

Many thank thanks Jophy. The linking to porn sites is becoming a real problem now and is seriously distressing the women on the forum.

What am I supposed to do to alert the admin that I'm being redirected to these sites? Leeloo requests that I tell her where I'm being redirected, and I'm trying my very best here to just add the name but no link because I certainly don't want to advertise them in any way but these porn sites are seriously affecting the forum.. The new member count has decreased and day by day I'm getting complaints from members being concerned about forcibly being redirected to these porn sites.

Please don't think I posted the name out of fun! Forumotions advertisers are seeking keywords on the forum and using them to redirect our members - this is NOT fun at all!

Do you SLGray suggest I say nothing?

Hi cookiemonster395, SLGray just did that to keep unwanted links from being posted on the forum, you can PM me the links that troubles your members and I'll gladly forward it to The Godfather, I'll update him with your problem too, thank you for understanding Smile

Sorry, cookiemonster395: I was just following the rules about questionable sites. Even if you posted just the name, other members can Google that name to get the link. Like Jophy said, it is better to send this type of information by private message to a staff member.

    I appreciate the apology SLGrey.

I'm sure you can both understand the frustration I'm going through in having to deal with members complaints about this. Especially when they have children themselves who could also possibly view this content unintentionally.

I do fully understand though you not wanting such content posted anywhere on the forum. I feel the same about our forum but unfortunately due to the forced redirections I'm having to deal with this now on a daily basis.

    I've PMd you Jophy.

I'm happy to wait till Monday Jophy but I do hope then that this is priority.

This really has to stop now. As you can see from my PM the problem is worsening and from a member this morning I'm told that access from her mobile device is now impossible due to constantly being redirected to the porn sites.

I googled the name that you posted that I removed and noticed that there were others complaining about this. So it is not just on Forumotion forums. Most I saw was about apps people downloaded.

    Post by cookiemonster395 April 7th 2013, 9:09 pm

I just googled to see what came up on the 'one' porn site of the many we are being redirected to and only one search was found on a forum who had a problem with being redirected after downloading an app from playstore.

I very, very much doubt any connection. I'd already asked the First Ladies who complained about being redirected if they had recently installed anything as this would be your first course of action to narrow down the cause - their answer was no.

The other thing SLG is that I have had to PM multiple porn sites other than the single one you deleted to Jophy for attention from the Admin.

The one you deleted is not the only redirection. Members are being redirected to multiple sites making access to 'just our forum' almost impossible.

If the problem were as you suggested on the part of the user then the problem would not just be limited to the use of our forum. It would affect their entire Internet experience as it has done for the user you found in your search. Or searches if you found more than I and this is not the case at all. The redirections are limited to their access to our forum only.

I'm very sorry to read of Leeloos departure. She was a great asset to the forum and will be very much missed.

This is the third time our forum has been bombarded by advertisers redirecting our members. Twice Leeloo has been kind enough to resolve the forum for us. This is the first time porn has been involved though and I'm sure you can appreciate the urgency required to get this resolved ASAP so I do hope the TGF will respond soon.

Thank you again Jophy for keeping me updated and for your swift response.

I've never had any issues with the weblink, but I don't use the cellular edition often, so i could be losing something. Do you know if you have any ad.fly hyperlinks on your discussion forums.

Our members are STILL having to endure being redirected to porn sites. I will again PM the link of the redirection to you Jophy.

Obviously since my reporting this issue nothing at all has been resolved and although I'm saddened to see that other forums are also being targeted by these forceful redirections I'm also hoping they give strength to actually getting something done about it.

Its not nice for anyone to have to be seeing such things forcibly and I trust the godfather will now take the matter in hand.

    Hi Cookie,

This mightn't be an issue FM can directly deal with, the adds are supplied by a 3rd party, so although it's on FM's platform, they have to report it to the supplier who will have to do the hard yards to fix the problem, working with FM to fix it.

Plus there are a tonne of bugs that our 4 developers have to fix, some bugs have to wait up to 1 year to be amended, or even have a temporary amendment put in place.
    Please be patient Smile
