Facebook Links Under member profiles arent working.

Hi,

just wondering if you can tell me what I have missed.
I have members adding links to their profiles such as facebook and twitter.
When I click on the members profile links they do not direct to their facebook pages instead you get a facebook page with a message saying "Sorry, this page isn't available
The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed."
It happens on all the members. So as admin is there a step I have missed?

So they fill it on the contacts field right?:
Profile > Information > Contact field(At the bottom)

There's no problem with that here on the support forum, I can access the facebook page of a certain member here on their profile.

Are the members experiencing this too when they try to click on the contact field on someone's profile?

Yes they are. If I go onto a member and click there "facebook" they get this message -"Sorry, this page isn't available
The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed."

Twitter gets this message - "Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!
Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
and Pinterest gets this message "
"Oops!Our server is experiencing a mild case of the hiccups.
We've reported it to the team.
Try again?"

It doesnt matter what member I choose on the forum it all says the same when I click contact them through there profile??
Is it something I have not allowed in the back in..like links to external websites are disabled or something?

Have the users entered their IDs for these sites correctly in the form? You MUST only submit your username for the text fields as they already have the url of the site entered in the profile field.

If I was to enter my profile for twitter with the entire link, the result would be this

The above will result in the user being taken to a non-existent profile page. Instead you will enter your ID's of these sites with just your account name.

Example:

"twitter.com/SethC1995"

Just SethC1995, no site url just my username.

When entered correctly like so..upon clicking the button on your forum, you will be taken directly to that users profile on the specified site.

Okay - I will have a look on my profile and see if that works and get back to you soon. Thanks. If it works I suppose its a sticky I will need to do on the froum so they understand that Is I was under the impression you just put in a http address???

Yes, you're required to only submit your username for that specific site. These new contact fields already contain the address to these sites, so there is no need to copy and paste the entire address.

What about pinterest?? do you know how thats suppose to look??

The website one is a http addy so they all work. I will now be able to show them facebook and twitter, dont know how pinterest is suppose to look and I hope to add flickr icons too??

Actually Pinterest doesnt work with just your username do you know what thats suppose to look like???

Sorry Yes it does I didnt realise that when you go to the http address it says your username up in there... thanks - you can mark this as solved.
