I cannot log into my site because of pop up issues. An ad for AdF.ly keeps popping up and when I click "Skip Ad", I cannot log in. It always kicks me back out of my account. Please help, need to log into my account.

Yes, the link is: http://foirfeacht12.forumotion.com/. What happens is an AdF.ly ad redirects me when I try to log in. It bumps me out. May or may not be something with my computer. Still, would like to know how to fix it. Happens on google chrome and firefox.

I had this problem a while back, what you have is a browser hijacker (malware or virus) and from memory i'm sure AdwCleaner solved the problem.(free download)

I tried AdwCleaner, but I still had no results, though I did get some icky things off my computer I wasn't able to get off by deleting several things in control panel. And it runs like new again. Although that's nice, I still can't log in. Any other suggestions? Would anyone like me to screen shot what I'm seeing?

So you do not see another page after pressing the skip ad button? It redirects you to your forum.

It redirects me to my forum. But I am not signed in. You see, it comes over the page every time I hit log in and then redirects me to my forum not signed in, thus making it impossible to sign in.

I am going to send you a private message.

    Edit:
After using the information you sent me, I also encounter the issue. I will bring this to the attention of The GodFather.

Could removing/ uninstalling the infected browsers and then install a clean version of either Chrome, or Firefox, help in such a case? If yes, I would think that before the user installs it again, it would be wise to run the necessary software(s) that can clean their computer altogether like ComboFix.

Another question to ask here: Are you experiencing problems with other websites since you did acknowledge that running AdwCleaner remedied a few problems?

    i don't know?

I do not know of any infected browser issues doing this with adfly.
you have to remember forumotion uses adfly for certain things. like if you post links to popular free file hosting sites. it will redirect to adfly first. or if your forum gets shut down. it will redirect to adfly first then onlineguardian..  or forumotion forums sometimes triggers the automatic spam detector thing all forums have running in the background. This will first go to adfly then the stupid onlineguardian message to confirm you are human.

So i am not really sure if this is a forumotion problem, or a problem on his end, or browser issue?

I guess it would not hurt to nu-install and re-install browser. but i think i would do a system restore back to a time and date before this start happening and see if that fixes it.

and even before doing that i think i would wait for a pro-admin to reply here first to be sure it is not something on forumotions end causing this. the funny thing is it is only happening to one person and not everyone on the forum so that leads to more of it perhaps just being a issue on his end?  once again don't know.

The thread has been marked for pro-admin to check and thread link/problem will be posted in their office as well

I have uninstalled and re-installed chrome. It also does this on firefox and internet explorer though. I NEVER use IE. What's weird though, is that when I open a 4G hotspot, I can sometimes log in. I know nothing about the following, but is there such a thing as an IP address being targeted? SLGray had the same issue on my site, so I'd like to say it was something with the site itself other than the browser. I used the link, Kirk, and it gives the same page(and had tried that initially).

well i am not getting any adfly on any browser?
i tried chrome,Firefox, flock, opera,IE and safari all seems ok for me.
are there any other members experiencing this to?

Have you tried restoring your forum back to a time and date before this start happening?

If this is some sort of malware/ad-ware that got in your computer, then UN-installing and re-installing a browser may not do anything. you have to scan your computer with something like malware bites or super anti spyware and do a full system scan. also check in your programs and see if there is anything out of the norm. like anything to do with advertising tool bars or what not. and then UN-install them from your programs list in your control panel.

super anti spyware>> get free version, unless you want to buy it Smile

they do have a free version of this but you will have to search around for it. you can try cnet.com
