Creation Type: Two new substitution images for the Navigation Bar.
Size (In Pixels): Current sizes are 60 X 22 and 57 X 22.  New images should be the size necessary to fit in the Nav Bar properly.  
Primary Colors: Black and white.
Secondary Colors: Gray gradient, to align with other words in the Nav Bar.
Images to include: No other images.
Text to Insert : forum [and] home.
Font (Provide Download Link): Same as other words in the Nav Bar.  Please use your judgement for best match.    
Font Color: Black.

Please create two new images in the same style and colors as the current Navigation Bar images.  

Images should be the words:
forum
home
and, when uploaded, should align in the bar with the other images.     Note! These images are to be substitutions for the current images of "index" and "portal."

Those look nice, Seth, and the font seems to be a good match.  
(The small "e" is a little off, and the upright on the "h" is a little short, but on the whole I'd say it's a good match. This is not a criticism; we don't know the name of the font and have had trouble matching it before.)  

There is one thing, though - the size of the letters.  The letters in the images I supplied appear to be a larger font size than the ones you made.  Can you increase the size of yours to match the originals?

What is the best way for me to make sure these are saved to my forum permanently?

So far, all I've done is copy the address of your image(s) and paste them at:
pics management > advanced mode > index
and
pics management > advanced mode > portal

Is this enough to make sure they don't disappear?

You're welcome.

Yes, they should not disappear. If you want though, you can save them and upload them yourself if you wish. Also the font I used was Lucida Sans for future reference.

These images are hosted on servimg--these images are known to stay, but if you would prefer a different image host, you can always host a different location, yourself, as Seth says above. =)
