Solved Forum Founder email addres change

Post by fionnghal Tue 12 Nov - 15:20

Can someone please confirm that for me as Founder to change my email address all I need to do is change it in my profile?  Is there any risk involved in this?

As founder, you can change anything in your profile on your forum.  Changing the username, password, and email address on the your forum will not change it in the forum utilities - https://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/ .

Thanks for the prompt reply.  But... I'm really sorry but I don't understand what you mean.  What are forum utilities and what effect do they have on anything?  All I really want to know is if I can change the Founder email address (no other change) without fear of bringing down the system, and will all notifications (e.g. notifications of PMs, new accounts created go to the new email address).

Or is it that I have to go through the forum utilities as well as changing on my profile?

Forum utilities can be used to restore your forum to an earlier date.

Changing your email address will also be changed for the newsletters and most other things, too.  The only thing that you will need to change is the contact email address.

Getting there. So, should I change the email address in BOTH my profile and the Utilities so they are using the new email address? (I hope to discontinue the old email address after all this is done)

Yes, it would be a good idea to change it in the utilities if the old email is not going to be used.
