Despites all security systems installed in Forumotion forums, some malicious people have not other ways to achieve your forum than using ruse
The usual way is fishing via fake Forumotion pages (Utilities page access for example) or malicious emails sent to the founder or admin. Those emails promise some maintenance, updates or credits in exchange for your password and Id if your forum!!!!
One example:
Neither Forumotion nor The Staff will contact you and ask for your login. Indeed, our technicians don't need your password & id to perform a maintenance page or solve a technical problem because they directly work on our databases. For credits, there are only three way to obtain them: - Buy credits through your admin panel - Get freecredits thanks to your forum activity. The information is available on the homepage of the admin panel - Win credits thanks to contests, tutorials, video, banners,...
Forumotion never sends any emails to get password & id whatever the reason. Be careful when receiving those type of requests.
We condemn these malicious practices and we'll not hesitate to contact authorities.
Thanks for your understanding
Regards

Yeah! My admin team and I recieved this message as well. It's a bit concerning that people would actually try to scam us. I knew right away it was a scam, but, other people may not have. I hope no one fell for it.
Thank you for the update on that buttercup i had some thing like this some time ago but i know that FM don't send that sort of thing out to the admin's, and nore do they need to.
Thank you Buttercup. Forumotion is no different from any of the other online sites when people try to phish your information. Never click on links and never give out your private information. Doing so is only asking for trouble.
