    Solved HTML Problems

    Post by Wicked King December 31st 2013, 9:41 pm

    Hello,

    This is the URL of my forum: http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/

    I am trying to create an HTML Page, but each time I submit the page, it sends me this: http://prntscr.com/2ffvmr

    This is a list of everything I have on the HTML Page, from preferences to the Codes placed. I'm not sure why this is happening, or if I may have to go activate something else in the forum in order for this to work. If so, please tell me. If you do not what the problem may be, it would be appreciated for you to tell me that, too.

    Code:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <body>
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
    h1 {color:silver;
    text-align:left;}
    h2 {color:blue;
    text-align:center;}
    h3 {color:gold;
    text-align:center;}
    h4 {color:silver;
    text-align:center;}
    p {color:white;
    text-align:center;}
    </style>
    </head>

    <h1>

    <span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS;"/><span style="font-size: 30px;">Darkness Duel Academy
    Starting Guide</span></span></pre></h1>

    <h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Welcome!</span></h2>
    <p>Welcome to the Darkness Duel Academy! We are not the best Academy out there, and we do not claim to be, but we are glad that you choose to be apart of our Community!
    Since you are new here, why don't you introduce yourself <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/f4-introductions-and-farewells">here</a>. This is our Introduction Forum, and is a great way to make new friends and tell us all about yourself!

    <h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Basic Information</span></h2>
    <p>The first thing you need to understand about our Academy is that we do have rules, which you can, and need to, check out <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/t1-academy-rules">here</a>. These are our Site Rules, and they need to be followed. Our Registration even requires you to agree to follow these rules; so just by Registering, you tell us that you have read over and will follow all of our rules. Failure to comply will result in your extreme displeasure on this site; and we don't want that. We want to be a fun place for you to come; so don't break the rules and we won't have any problems.</p>
    <p>Once you've read over our Rules, you can look over our <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/t3-staff-information#13">Ranks and Positions</a>. These Ranks and Positions matter, as it entails what you can and cannot do on our Site. No matter your rank, though, you are <span style="text-decoration: underline;">NOT</span> above the rules.</p>

    <h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Dorm System and Exams</span></h2>
    <p>As you may have noticed, as of right <em>now</em>, your name is a very bright yellow. That means you have not taken your Entrance Exam. Until you do take this exam, your name will stay yellow. Please Log into the Chat Box and request an Exam from a Tester. Before asking for a test, though, look over <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/t7-dorm-placement-testing-rubric">this rubric</a>. Although a tester should send you this link before testing, you can still familiarize yourself with it to get a head start. If you refuse to take your test within 3 days after your Registration, you will be automatically placed in Dark Grepher Dark Blue.</p>
    <p>You are allowed to Re-Take the Dorm Placement Exam for 400 dp, after a total of 7 Days, 1 week, after your last time taking the Exam. You only get it once a week, so make it count. 400 dp is a great deal to lose and not make profit from. You will find the rubric for the Re-Test Exam <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/t14-dorm-placement-exam-re-take-rubric#15">here</a>.</p>
    <p>You're dorm dignifies what you are capable of doing. The higher your dorm, the more values you get out of our Academy. The only Dorm that you cannot test into is the Dark Armed Dragon Silver Dorm. The only way into that Dorm is by winning a Site-Held Tournament while in the Dark Nephthys Crimson Dorm, Passing the re-test while in the Dark Nephthys Crimson Dorm, or by defeating someone in a DAD Challenge. Every other Dorm can be Tested into by the Entrance Exam. Our lowest dorm is Dark Grepher Dark Blue, and although you will probably be picked on about being present in that dorm, just know that you will, some day, be the best Members of our Academy. You are our future; our Back Bone, if you will.</p>

    <h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Points System</span></h2>
    <p>Dueling Points, or DP, is a form of Cyber Currency used on our Academy. You don't actually get money from joining us, and it costs no real money from you to be here. You can earn DP from doing a number of assorted tasks on our Academy, and you can use that DP to buy things from the Academy (that will only help you on this site). You can learn all the perks about this system <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/t2-dda-points-system">here</a>.
    <p>While you're looking over our Points system, you can also familiarize yourself with the multitude of shops we have to offer. <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/c6-yu-gi-oh-discussions-and-shops">Here</a>, you'll find an array of Shops that offer you many things from our Academy. You can either buy Decks and Graphics if you need them, or if you think you're good enough, you can make your own!
    </p>

    <h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Check This out!</span></h2>
    <p>Here at Darkness Duel Academy, we want our Members to be able to express themselves in any way possible, within certain parameters. So, we offer many ways for members to show off many styles of arts, not just the Art of Dueling.</p>

    <p><a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/f22-off-topic-gfx">Here</a>, you'll find a section cut off just for our Artists. If you want to show off your graphic Designs, feel free to post them here for all of our members to judge and comment on! Be prepared for any types of comments; if you feel offended, be sure to tell an Admin so we can square the problems away. You post your art at your own risk; we cannot be responsible if someone uses it without your permission.</p>

    <p><a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/f23-yu-gi-oh-discussions">Here</a>, you'll find an array of Dueling Documents set aside for you to look at. These dueling documents are very important, and can range from Official Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings to Pro Deck Builds. This is an essential place for aspiring duelists to go, or people who are new to the game. You can either make your own for us to look over and accept, or you can read already existing ones to up your game!</p>

    <p>This is an Academy, and we, by chance, have an Arcade. You can either participate in one of our <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/f27-forum-games">Academy Games</a>, or make one of your own! You can also look at and design your own cards and put them up for display right <a href="http://darkness-academy.forumotion.com/f31-card-making">here</a>.</p>

    <h3>Thank you for joining our Academy!</h3>
    <p>It is known that one's Dark Side is substantially stronger than their normal selves. . .unleash yours!</p>

    It could be that you have reach the limit of the number of characters.

    Are you using this as a homepage? If you are then you have to have a link to www.forumotion.com somewhere on the page.

    Also it could be the words you are using. There are certain words that are not allowed.

    I tested the code on a test html page, and I can tell you it isn't over the number of characters allowed per page. Judging from my experience its a far cry from going over. I have html pages with much larger number of characters than that. I can also tell you I have never reached the limit and seen that message because obviously its set very high.

    I can also tell you its not certain words that are not allowed, you would be hard pressed to find a word the html pages will not accept, I've never come across any of those as well, in fact I would argue that a list of words that is not allowed even exists, or if it did would prevent the html page from being published.

    Although your html codes are sound enough to submit I did see some major alignment issues that would need addressing.

    I see no reason why that html and text will not submit even with all its errors, so my best guess is the problem is related to the editor.

    Some side notes to consider concerning your html:

    You never need to have a DOCTYPE written in your forumotion html pages if you use the forums header and footer. That goes for <html><head><body> and closing tags if you included the forums header and footer. Basically when you click include header and footer what you are doing is adding the html to a certain div that already exist. If you add them its invalid and written twice because forumotion puts those tags there sever side with the header and footer, you won't see it in your html., but it would still submit no matter how many errors you have.

    Well, I have the following words relating to money in the Code:

    Money, buy, currency, sell, cost, shops.

    Would this be a reason that the HTML isn't being accepted?

    Well, my site doesn't make members give us actual money; that's what that specific section of the page is telling the members. That it doesn't have actual money involved in it.

    My site does, although, have a form of Cyber Currency that it uses on the page, and the members can use that for various things on the site. That's what that part is telling them. But, since this seems to be the problem, I'll fix it and tell you how it works.

    Try using other words instead of those.

    Could you make any suggestions that I could use to still make the point I want, without having this problem? I still want to tell the members about the Dueling Points and how they work, as well as about the multitude of shops that the Academy offers.

    Okay, this topic is solved. Thanks!
