Solved Requiring admin approval for new members.

    Post by C. lashock January 5th 2014, 1:56 am

    Hello!

I'm currently making a forum for a school club, and I have a particular section that I want only members to see. However, I have no control over approving new members, or at least I do not think I have that control. I do realize that there was a post about this before (https://help.forumotion.com/t95801-how-do-require-admin-approval-for-new-members). However, I do not see Users Options on my control panel. This thread was made over two years ago, so I cannot validate that it is up to date. I converted from phpBB2 to phpBB3 in order to see if the option presented itself, but it did not.

    Help?

Are you in the advanced mode in the administration panel?

Yes. I have tried both Simple and Advanced, and I see no changes in the little chart that presents itself (aside from a permissions button next to my name). I am the only registered member currently on the forum. However, the sidebar to the left expands to reveal...

    Spoiler:

...and also a separate Rank Administration area. I don't know if any of this pertains to member joining controls.

    Would screenshots help?

EDIT: Found it. Thanks for the help, SL Gray.

For those with the same question:

    • Admin. panel
    • Users and Groups tab
    • Users icon
    • Click Advanced
    • Click User Options under User sidebar
    • Move 'New accounts activation' to "Admin"
    • Save

    Requesting lock.
