    Solved Unacceptable advertisements!!! Important!!!

Post by Derryck January 7th 2014, 11:36 pm

    Hello admins,

can anyone please do anything that would ensure only appropriate adverts are displayed on our forums? Just tripped over the following on my forum today and I really don't want to be accused of pedophilia and other disgusting stuff... check the screenshot below (first commercial). How the hell is that a "similar topic" to a railway simulator???

If you want, you can deactivate this. It is not advertisements, but links to other Forumotion forums.

Administration Panel > General > Forum Promotion > Traffic Exchange

OK, I have removed that, so thanks for the advice.

Now, there is another problem. I am now being subjected to crappy comments and people are thinking I am a paedophile... they don't know how it works, of course. I didn't know it myself. I mean, why the hell is there no filter and such link can enter the traffic exachange? My forum is being attended by youngsters and what if someone puts me through a lawsuit? How much credibility can one earn with such link?

Sorry if I am being too straightforward, I know it is a free forum, but such link can really cause anyone a truckload of trouble. Maybe it should be clarified by someone...

    Thanks.

    Hello ,

Forums that you may find breaking the terms of service should be reported here. Once you fill out the information you will receive an email to confirm your litigation. After it is confirmed it will be reviewed(this takes time), and if your report was legitimate then the forum will be blocked by online guardian.

Links in similar topics depend on keywords used in your messages. For example :

Your topic title contains the keyword : " year "

the system will then find other topics which contain that keyword and place it in your similar topics.

OK, the system has been deactivated. It is a pity, though, traffic exchange is a good idea... but I will rather have none than linking to something that might (considering the link name) contain illegal porn.

    Thank you.

You should note that you won't get in any trouble for bad links that appear in the traffic exchange. However it is understandable that you don't want these links showing as it can be off-putting to members.
