    Solved Mature Discussion section

Post by JennyorAlice January 11th 2014, 4:19 am

Is there any possible way to make it so that your post count is a certain amount before you are able to post in a certain section of the forum?  For instance, lets say I wanted to create a certain area of the forum for mature discussions but wanted people to have 50 posts in the forum before they'd be allowed to post in the mature section.  Would I be able to do anything like that?  If so, how would I do that?

Well you could create a group with an auto subscription at 50 posts. Then create a forum and set the permissions so regular members couldn't post in that section until they reached 50 posts.

Okay, how would I go about doing that exactly on the admin panel?

It's not a stupid question Very Happy

To create a group, first go to Admin Control Panel Arrow Users and Groups Arrow Group Administration Arrow Create New Group Arrow Fill out the details and make sure you have the box 'Group auto-subscribe' selected yes then enter the value of 50 in the box that appears Arrow Save

    Step 2

Go to ACP Arrow General Arrow Categories and Forums Arrow Create the forum you want as a mature discussion then on the permissions page, select advanced mode, untick the member box for the permissions 'Open a topic' and 'reply to messages' and even 'view forum' if you don't want them seeing it. Then tick the box that corresponds with the group you created for people 50+ posts and they'll be able to post in that forum when/if they have 50+ posts.
