I currently host my forum through PHPBB but have been having a lot of issues with it and have decided to move to invision but as it is a existing forum with several topics and posts we wish to transfer all this over to the new forum. Does anyone know how this is done?

One way would be to go to hitskin, browse through the various Invision skins preview the skins by putting your forum URL in the preview box until you find something near to your liking, then install that skin, you can then modify it later to more suit you taste. ie change background buttons etc;

its not the theme thats the issue. its the content as we have sorted the theme we wanted but all the active topics and posts and forum members are on our old forum and we wish to transfer them to the new one

Changing versions only changes the version, but what is on the forum (posts, messages, topics, members) will stay the same. Â It will erased all customizes CSS codes.
You are not transferring from one version to another.

As SLGray said, changing the version will not modify your forum content. Only the skin will change.
For your information you can have this option via your admin panel:

You cannot bring your forum content ie members posts from another host to forumotion host.. Forum content belongs to the original host

Hello,
Changing hosts will not be possible. Forumotion does not hand out its databases as explained in this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t6668-forumotion-s-forum-databases
Is this problem solved?

As I stated above, it will not be possible to transfer another forum's content onto a Forumotion forum.

Hi
I have a bit similar problem, so I won't make a new topic of my question.
I have a forum created with phpbb (www.s8.createphpbb.com)  and the service has been unavailable for a month now (previously it has been unavailable every couple of weeks, so it's very unsteady). I finally decided to move my forum elsewhere and landed here. If I have a back up of the old forum, can I copy the posts to my new forum http://basenji.palstani.com ? Sorry, I'm not very "tech savvy" so I just have to make sure this is the same case as transferring from phpbb to Invision.

^ The only way forum databases are exchangeable is when one forum host sells out to another forum host, other than that there is no way to put your members posts from a createphpbb forum onto forumotion forum ..even if you have a backup there is no way to utilize it... You can however repost posts you previously made on the old forum onto your new forum by copy and paste.
