How to join a group when you register?

I want to know if there is a way to allow members to choose one group they would like to join when they register I also want it to automatically put the person in whatever group they choose. I don't want this for all groups but only for a few groups.

This is not possible, the only thing you can do is have an auto-subscribe group.

You can have an open group where members can subscribe to the group.  Then the group moderator can approve or decline the members.

well since there is no way to chose what group you want to join i will mark it as solved

You can set auto subscription to a group , all members will join the group , same goes for people who are going to register in the future.

Then you have an option as SLGray said , allowing people to join a group , then the group mod or admins approve of it.
