    Solved Reply to topic redirect

    Post by Kirbs August 8th 2014, 2:30 am

    I'd like to ask for a little help if possible, I'm creating an HTML page i have a box in it, when you press send, it should post what you wrote down in a certain topic, Like once you hit the "Send" button it will post your message in a topic as a reply to it
    this is the HTML page http://cda-academy.forumotion.com/h2-market

    Once you press send it will show you this http://gyazo.com/6d673c72a6036d86f31d5088cabf8802 how can i fix that? to make it post what you wrote in that box in a certain topic ? also how can i change the background image of that HTML page to a certain image or just make it all black?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

    First of all Chatbox messages do not send to topics it posts on the original ChatBox itself secondly it works perfectly I reccomend you try switching browser an clearing your browser cache which can be done here:   http://m.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache

    It does redirect you yes, But it doesn't post what you wrote in that box as a reply to the thread, as an Example check this one.. http://www.xenonduelacademy.com/h3-supreme-market
    Create an account on that site and try this HTML post you'll see what I mean

    Hello,

    I will give you an idea on how to change the background to your html page.
    You could add below the <body> tag the <div class="htmlbackground"> and before the </body> tag add </div>. After that if you go to your CSS and add the
    Code:
    .htmlbackground{background:url(http://tancap.in/wallpaper/15/1/black-background-2-wide.jpg) no repeat;}
    That should fix the background issue!
    Lets hope it does! Wink

    A tip of mine would be to use Google Forms, and publish it on that site. It has what you want there, and it's probably easier for you and your users.

    Hello Kirbs,

    I apologize for overlooking this topic.

    Try replacing your Form by :
    Code:
    <form enctype="multipart/form-data" name="post" method="post" action="/post">
     Â <textarea id="text_editor_textarea" name="message"></textarea> <!-- Textarea -->
     Â <input name="mode" value="reply" type="hidden"/> <!-- Post mode -->
     Â <input name="t" value="9" type="hidden"/> <!-- Topic ID -->
     Â <input class="button1" name="post" value="Send" tabindex="6" accesskey="s" type="submit"/> <!-- Submit button -->
    </form>

    I've labeled the input fields with comments. The one you should pay attention to is topic id. This is the id of the topic you'll be posting to, the value being the id.

    It looks like you might need to load the auth data. I'm not familiar with where it's from, might be a cookie, however, I usually just load it directly from the topic. Try this instead :
    Code:
    <form enctype="multipart/form-data" name="post" method="post" action="/post">
     Â <textarea id="text_editor_textarea" name="message"></textarea> <!-- Textarea -->
     Â <div id="authData" style="display:none;"></div> <!-- Auth data for permissions -->
     Â <script type="text/javascript">jQuery('#authData').load('/t9- input[name="auth[]"]');</script>
     Â <input name="mode" value="reply" type="hidden"/> <!-- Post mode -->
     Â <input name="t" value="9" type="hidden"/> <!-- Topic ID -->
     Â <input class="button1" name="post" value="Send" tabindex="6" accesskey="s" type="submit"/> <!-- Submit button -->
    </form>

    You modified the value of the load method. It should be :
    Code:
    load('/t9- input[name="auth[]"]');

    /t9- being the page to load, and input[name="auth[]"] the elements to be loaded into authData.

    /t9- is a short way to write a topic url. ( you don't need the title Wink )

    No problem Smile

    You can style it with the ID #text_editor_textarea, you can also add a class or change the ID in the HTML if you'd like.

    Here is a rule for it :
    Code:
    #text_editor_textarea {
     Â color:#CCC;
     Â background:#444;
     Â font-size:12px;
     Â padding:3px;
    }

    Did you add it in a inline stylesheet ?

    e.g.
    Code:
    <style type="text/css">#text_editor_textarea {
      color:#CCC;
      background:#444;
      font-size:12px;
      padding:3px;
    }</style>

    When I looked at the CSS, this is what I see for the element:

    Code:
    textarea#text_editor_textarea

    post redirect - Reply to topic redirect Slgray10
