Image hosting problem with Servimg
A number of members, including myself are experiencing problems with the upload function via Servimg. Going through the usual process of choosing a file, it's size and hosting works fine. But once the percentage upload has reached 100% you then get an error message saying 'no image has been selected for upload'. Anyone else getting this? Know of a solution?

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
Thanks qmars. I'd rather keep the hosting original if possible first rather than introduce new variables.

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
Hi,
I am not experiencing the issue myself, lets try to further clarify:
Is it also happening here, on the support forum?
If so, can u please try to clear the cache & cookies of ur browser?
Are any of your members also experiencing this as well?

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
Some of our members are having issues, too.  It started when the 'copy' buttons disappeared.  It  looks like this on forumotion, our forum, and my test forum, on FF, Chrome, and Opera. Â
It's still workable, but it did confuse some less experienced members.
Here are the symptoms from some members who know how to post pictures. Â I haven't been able to duplicate their problems.

Have there been any changes made in the last couple weeks that I missed?

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
I had a problem with serving, when I went to the admin panel of my forumotion forum and I tried to upload a forum banner it would say "You are not logged in", but when I went to the Serving.com site it let me upload just fine. The problem fixed itself so I didn't bother saying anything on here.

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
Our members are experiencing exactly what boffer10's link describes. I think something has changed in the ability of Servimg to accept and change image file sizes. If people have to start editing their pics prior to hosting them that will discourage them from uploading them.

Btw I cleared the cache and cookies yet the issue remained using both IE and Chrome.

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
Thank you, Derri.
I couldn't duplicate the problem because I always reduce my picture file size before uploading.
I tried a 2.7MB picture file (a big one) and got this:
Then I selected 'Browse' again, selected a small picture (Screenshot5, 10KB), and got this:
I selected 'Host it', and got the 3 lines of code we're used to seeing, and was able to post the picture.
It appears that Servimg is handling large file sizes differently.

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
OK I am one of honeybees members and I have conducted a few trials, here are results so far.
I first tried an upload of an image originally sized at 4320 wide while using Firefox as browser and asked Servimg to resize down to 640 wide. It did so with no problems.
I then went over to Internet Explorer as my browser and tried the same, the result was a box saying it couldn't display anything.
So I then used a different image that was already at a size of 720, obviously smaller than the default setting of 800. Servimg had no problem with it then and hosted it so it could be posted on the forum.
So in conclusion it would seem that there is a problem with resizing when the member is using Internet Explorer, however other browsers do not seem to have a problem as some have reported it is OK when using Google Chrome.

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
So it seems that the issue is with Internet Explorer, not Forumotion?

Re: Image hosting problem with Servimg
It is obviously some odd coding error that is conflicting with IE as Internet explorer has had no recent updates or patches that could account for it, it stems from whatever happened recently with Servimg as Internet explorer worked OK previously.

TCP problem also
I have had the same problem with photos over 2MB, so just re-sized them, but now I can't even start to host photos as for 2 days I continually get this message from servimg, and I am not the only member with this problem.
What do I do now?

This Error is not anything to do with FM and our servers this could be down to your ISPNetwork Error (tcp_error)Â
