Adding a password to signup

Hello!

I'm looking to limit who can sign up through my forum via a password that I could manually give out to the people I need to join. It's going to be used for an indev project as an easy way for us to connect and comment on the various ideas. I could easily build us a site but using a forum would allow the entire staff team to connect and talk.

What I'm looking for:
A way to have a password a user must enter in order for their signup to be completed and not fail. If they don't put in the password, their request to join would ideally be denied.

How can I do this, without having to confirm individual users?

There is not really a way to do it with the default settings for registration.  Maybe someone would know how to create a HTML page for this, and you can set it has the homepage.

I'm afraid I'll make it manual, and add a second admin. It'd be a nice addition if someone wanted to make one!
