problems with the chat box

This might be connected with the recent data centre change but I can't say for sure. 

Currently the chatbox at my forum has been very slow for everyone. We have people from all over the world so it can't just be an ISP issue from certain countries. The Chat box loads the message very slowly and often you get your message displayed 2 minutes after posting. It's not as smooth as it used to be few weeks back. 

Problems reported on Chrome and Firefox both. 

The only pattern I have noticed is that it happens more when there are 10+ posters on. It's not as bad(still happens) when it's less.

It could be from the migration, but I cannot confirm. Does this occur at all when you're by yourself in the chatbox ?

I tested it and while it happens less frequently, I still had delays between messages while alone. Happens far more with more people on though. Also, 90% of the users use chrome so Chrome definitely is a bigger problem than Firefox.

I gave it a test myself and noticed the delay after submitting my third message. It might be a problem with the auto refresh, because as soon as I clicked the refresh button the messages popped up. Can you confirm if the messages immediately show up after clicking refresh ?

Yea, I tested that just now and came to the same conclusion as yourself.

If the messages were delayed, pressing refresh immediately brought them on. So I agree that it's a problem with auto refresh unless some sort of connection error.

When many members are using the chatbox at once, there is slowness of messages of appearing.  Also it can happened when there are only two using it.

Yea that's the thing. It was very smooth before the migration. We have had over 60 posters at once in chat before but it gave no problems and none of the messages were ever delayed. But it started happening recently, even with 2 people.

While you were lucky, because this happened on my forums before the migration.

Hmm I see. Well in that case I guess the tech team will/should look into this hopefully.
