View count is abnormally high

I've searched, but can't find a similar issue.

There is one topic on a our private forum that has an abnormally high view count. We have every privacy feature available on our forum so that users must register, the forum can't be viewed at all, and it's not able to be found via google. There have been no recent requests to register, or unusual guests that I've seen. There are no links in the thread that could be causing a backtrack on a blog. It's a very small community and our most active threads have a view count of 200-300. This particular thread isn't all that active and it has over 1000 views.

Thoughts? Has our security been breached somehow?

Try this:  AP > General > Forum > Configuration
Scroll to the bottom and resyn your forum.

I'm not necessarily looking to reduce or reset the count. I'm asking if there's a reason our count would suddenly be so high on one topic, when it's all but impossible for the forum members to have viewed it that many times.

Resynchronizing your forum would just remove any glitches or bugs it may not normally have, so it is completely harmless to try.

What are the viewing permissions for the forum that the topic is in ? Go to Administration Panel > General > Forum > Categories and forums

Click the permissions icon on the forum.

Look at the following permissions :
View the forum || Read the topics


If those are not allowed for others than the groups you wanted, then it's most likely cause from one of your members.
