Pro Admin Redirects to dodgy sites/downloads for mobile useres on classic site

Post by RSR Flex December 23rd 2014, 4:56 pm

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem with my site redirecting mobile users to some pretty unsavoury websites (I can provide a list of some I have picked up, but mostly porn related). The site loads and redirects almost immediately. The frequency is not consistent and it doesn't happen every day.

It happens randomly on any page/topic for those viewing the classic site on a mobile device (apple/android/win all the same).

I can't really see how it got in - I have a skin modified from one available from hitskin, but there's no html/java/widgets etc beyond the default for my punbb forum.

I thought I had disabled it by turning off html in topics (though the problem does occur on other pages, so this is probably a red herring) but I had it again recently. However this simply isn't a suitable solution as i want to put googledocs iframes in posts: I need html to do this.

Is this due to 3rd party adverts? I can't see anything in the rest of the page that could cause it.

This poster had a similar problem: https://help.forumotion.com/t122370p30-mobile-access-redirecting-again

and i wonder if this is related: https://help.forumotion.com/t136121-530-random-redirection-to-apple-store

qettera suggests there are dodgy things going on: http://www.quttera.com/detailed_report/redstorm.forumotion.co.uk#myModalPotSuspB5CD0932D4E720ACAE9EF10219E2D9AE

Anyway, while my members are not particularly bothered (some enjoy surprise nipples Wink )and capable of avoiding the scams , I would rather  it didn't happen.

I would greatly appreciate any fixes or suggestions.

    Thanks

    Felix

    Hi,

I'll report this issue to our Pro Admin who might be able to investigate more.

I have managed to have it happen on my phone (latest was yesterday), i know of at least two others last week. Not many others I have talked to use the forum in this way. We don't have many members, but are trying to get a few other people over for a race and a chat, so don't want to put them off.  I've asked people to report it if it happens. It's annoying to pinpoint because it's intermittent and inconsistent.

Logged in here to make a thread about this, but saw it was already made. 2 people so far on my forum have reported pop ups for dodgy sites and they were both using it on their tablet. One of them told me their tablet was new and hasn't ever visited any sites so it isn't a deal with cookies. This needs to be fixed immediately....

Also if it means anything, I changed my forum theme for the first time in a few years just yesterday. The theme is titled Black & Blue Carbon or something like that.
