    Solved CSS Sheet is empty

Post by DVAted March 5th 2015, 12:15 pm

    Technical Details

    Forum version : phpBB2
    Position : Founder
    Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
    Screenshot of problem : http://i.imgbox.com/d1DRtBiz.png
Who the problem concerns : All members
When the problem appeared : after I read this topic https://help.forumotion.com/t139284-codes-to-personalize-your-chatbox#cb-notif
    Forum link : http://vgunetwork.forumotion.net/

    Description of problem

    Hello!

After having read this topic with much excitement:
    https://help.forumotion.com/t139284-codes-to-personalize-your-chatbox
I immediately went to Colors/CSS Sheet and realized it's utterly empty. I tried searching for the keyword "chatbox" but it remained empty when I clicked the "Search" button.

Why is it empty? Why does your example screenshot ( https://i.servimg.com/u/f38/19/12/53/85/chat110.png ) have a
    #chatbox > p {
in it when mine has nothing?

Which ones are the CSS codes and which ones are the Javascripts or HTML codes in that tutorial anyway? I pretty much figured all the Code boxes there are to be set as new Java/Html codes, but this CSS Sheet thing threw me off.

Why is mine empty (I do have custom colors setup) and what exactly am I supposed to add to it?

I apologize for taking your time with this and for not having greater knowledge of the system itself.

I would've replied this to the tutorial itself but I can't. I would've made this a reply to other CSS problem topics in this section, but they don't go anywhere near my questions and I didn't wanna derail or hijack them.

Much appreciation to the devs of Forumotion! You guys and girls are the best!

The stylesheet is used to override the default CSS, which can be seen by pressing the link at the top of the stylesheet.

You will need to add your own customized CSS.

So I copy/paste the "basic" CSS in the CSS box, and then edit it with parts from the tutorial?
Then which part of the tutorials' codes goes into it?

    No

You just add what you want to modify.

I just took a look at that tutorial you pointed to, these are Javascripts, however, there are some of them that css codes that work in conjunction to the Javascript code (it kind enhances the feature even more). You will be able to tell which codes are css in the tutorial because it will say 'the following css code' or 'this css code' or just 'css code' these need to be copied and pasted into you css stylesheet.

The css stylesheet will look blank until you put something in it. By default it is empty. If this better answers your question?

    Hope this helps,
    -Brandon

thank you. the first time I checked the tutorials for the plugins that interested me, neither of them had a CSS code.
but now that I checked the others, a CSS code mention is clear before the relevant codes.
so I hope that adding those that I'd want and hitting submit won't replace the basic CSS entirely, but only add to it. unless I have to copy/paste the basic CSS first, and then the custom codes under it and then hit "submit".

either way thank you for being patient, careful and polite.
I'll mark it as Solved I think cheers
