You can do this by using the moderation panel (there will be a link at the bottom of the topic that says 'you CAN moderate this forum' click that.)
From here simply delete each topic in every forum within the category.

That's what I just told you.... you can remove all posts topics through the moderation control panel without deleting the. forums.
