A few proposals

Hi everyone

I've been working on some optimizations to scripts lately, mostly some small tweaks to try and improve performance. I have also been thinking about updating our current reputation system. ( the plus and thanks ) I wrote up a new one which will improve on our current. ( e.g. adding to the count rather than reloading, and some other things ) Here's a preview :

I decided to use Font Awesome in place of images, but it can always be changed. It's pretty much the same, visually, but under the hood it was completely rewritten.


My next proposal would be the staff backgrounds. I've applied a small update to both the ranks and script which adds an additional class based on the group. I was thinking of changing the gradient colors to match that of the group color.

Let me know your thoughts.

The new style of thanks message is so much more cooler than the old one! 

The other additions and ideas are great as well! 

I like the new style for the thanks/reputation.

The staff backgrounds sound interesting.

Even though i think these will be awesome i think it will be too much. All those colors for all the staff and the images are not that good as for my tastes. I think they should stay as they are.. My personal thoughts!

Sorry i have only just seen this as you know i have just come out of hospital and need to rest up but i thought i would come in and take a look at what is going on this side of life.

I like the the backgrounds and the like button look but not to sure about the Thank member it looks sort of plain looking still maybe it could be more jazzy looking the Green really Don't go with the new look of the forum. Just my 2 pence worth lol

The current gradients I have as examples are a bit intense. I was thinking to lower the opacity by 15-25%, so it's not as intense. I'll be honest that I got the idea from the French support. I thought it was nice and provides more color code.

No problem, I opened the topic early this morning ( around 03:00 EDT ), so you got here just in time.

We could change it to a gold, or bring in an image instead. You can only do so much when just using iconic fonts + css.

Personally I actually like the idea of group colours on the background, our team isn't huge so it won't be too bad. Although I do hate green, which means because I'm green, I'll see even more green

I think techs should be green and we should be black

Yes for colored group backgrounds! I love the designer's color so use it on as many places as you can. 

I love both proposal: thanks button and font colour I am not a fan of orange but I like the idea. Like that users can see the difference between their posts and ours

Lol, swap the colors then, I'm fine with anything.  I love orange and green too.

I added the backgrounds and changed the like system over to the new one. So far it's working great, but if there's any problems or your think something should be changed, feel free to let me know !

I made some small modifications to the display of the like buttons and thank message. I'm still in the process of testing it on this forum, but I've debugged most of the bugs with old browsers that I encountered ( ..IE ). Chrome is next, then Opera, and finally Safari.

They all look great @Ange Tuteur .

@Ange Tuteur is there a chance you could maybe make Support Moderator's background a little lighter ? I think its over powering and so is the Graphic Designer's background

It's really in your face when you look at the posts it may look better a little lighter maybe

@Ape they were all a little intense still. I had them around 80% opacity, so I lowered it by another 20%. How does that look ?

@Buttercup Want to swap colours, you can be Green and I can be orange?

@Buttercup I went on a hunt for images, with this being the best one I could find relating to summer. My attempt, I also snagged tons of other images.
