Moving Items on the Forum

Hi,
I've taken over control of the appearance of my boardgame groups forum and therefor I'm looking to move things around in my forum and as far as I can see it's not possible to do with the basic tools that are available in the basic admin controls.

So does that mean that I will have to create a CSS style for these items and if so how do I find out the name of each object reference?
Basically I am looking to:

- Move the chatbox onto the left side of the forums as a small side panel
- Move the statistics to be underneath that.
- Remove the white spaces between the forum banner buttons,
- And generally tidy the other bits up as well.

Now I'm not really sure how is best to do this so any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.

Ok I've worked out how to find the element names

Will I have to position every element using CSS now?
