Solved Member Delete after not being active for so long?

    Post by jan4jam May 24th 2015, 6:59 pm

    Good afternoon,

As I am working on my forum and setting permissions etc., to have it ready for the 1st. of August when I move my members/friends to the forumotion forum I created I came across an option to "delete, remove" a member if they are inactive for so long.

This is a great feature for me to have although I never liked deleting members but with the group's forum I am utilizing now I have literally 530 members which maybe a 1/4 of them post seriously, so I seen a permission where you can set it if a member is not active for so long you can have them deleted / removed?

May you please tell me where to go in the Admin to find this permission, I can not seem to locate it forgot where I seen it at?

Thank you and have a relaxing and good holiday tomorrow,
    Jan

Where did you see this option?  They are only deleted if you delete them yourself.

AP > Users & Groups > Users > Inactive List 0r Handle Users

    Good morning Brandon,

I went to  the option "handle users" and it allows you under "Management" to "inform, deactivate, or delete a member here is what it says you can do below:

at haven't visited the forum since : daysthat haven't posted any messages since : daysthat have less than :
    blank "messages"

You can either like it says above so I am understandable here you can deactivate after above options, delete, or inform I think I like the inform best. But I think to delete, you have no idea how many members I have in my Admin at my forum now, I want to start a new and get rid of the members that join literally I have members that join and never ever return to the group etc, why don't they just leave they stay and some do come back in about 6 months on and off but I think it would keep them coming if I chose either deactivate or delete so it would kind of give them a little push that hey I am having at leas to long on to not get deactivated or deleted, make sense?

Your advice of what I should do with this is very, very much appreciated????

May I ask you what is the difference from deactivate or delete , does deactivate mean they can log in but not post? And of course delete means it removes them from forum?

The only option I would use is the has not visited one of course!

Thank you have a good holiday,

Shoot hope this message above is understandable it did not paste very well the options you can do, let me know if you do not understand it. It basically is saying if they do not post so many messages you can do the above actions, or if they do not visit the forum which is the one I want to utilize, if they stop coming or literally like i have issues now they join and never post etc. stated above?

Again can use some advice it is appreciated if possible?

    have a good day,

It does not delete the accounts automatically.  You have to do it manually.  You enter the information which loads the list which you can delete.

deactivate = member can not log in
delete = account is removed from the database
