Unviewed Topics become marked as read!

When I log into my forum, topics/posts that I have NOT viewed yet, become marked as read after some time without me viewing them first.

I don't always have time to check every post every day I log in so how do I stop unread topics being marked as read?

Yes, if you are not watching the forums then it will not show when a new post is made. Make sure you watch any forums you wish to know about new posts in

If you do not read all new posts and log off the forum, the posts you did not read will not show has new to you.

Wait, there's a confusion.
I don't have forums watched BUT I do get new posts marked as new/unread.
However, the problem is when I log in, if I don't open the thread, it will stop being marked as new/unread even though I haven't read/opened it yet!

I often just log in to check PMs or don't have time to see all new posts but when I come back I can't tell what threads I need to moderate. :o

If you log off and have new posts which you do not read, they will be marked read when you log back in again.

SLGray, that's my problem!
I'm forced to either read every new post (and moderate) or face having to (next time) go through all posts until I recognise at a point where I've already read them.
It's extremely annoying.
Is there a fix/workaround?
I only want new posts to be UNmarked (as new) AFTER I actually click on them.
Me logging out doesn't mean I've read all the new posts. I rarely have time for that.

Unfornuatelly that is just how the system is set up .
