    In progress Help With Moving Avatars

    Post by Damien Rainbows May 25th 2015, 11:33 pm

    Okay so I have looked for some help with this by looking it up, but have found nothing that has helped me so far, and I have looked through all that have popped up. So I am having some troubles with moving avatars or also known as Gifs int he avatars. The problem is not that they don't move when I put a link in, its just that they don't size down. They are too big in the Forums and in the profile. They blend into the posts made. I have tried to figure out how t size them down, and keep them sized down but I have yet to figure it out, nor has someone helped me figure it out. So i was wondering if someone knew how to help me with this, that would help alot.

    I've tried that, but it just re-sizes the regular avatars. The ones that don't move. But for some reason when I want to make my avatar a GIF, it doesn't re-size it. It keeps it the same size as the normal picture

    Try hosting the Image on an image hosting site, then set your avatar using one of the two options:
    Upload an Avatar from a URL
    or
    Link to an off-site Avatar

    How big are we talking?

    My avatar is currently offsite and has a size of 3.3MB's. So it can be assumed its working, make sure the links ends in .gif
    I also added my image in the:
    Link to an off-site Avatar option and it worked fine

    Umm like when it put it in the off link area, the picture moves like normal, but its also the same size it is when i get it off the internet. It doesn't size down like other pictures I upload or grab

    So your saying that the avatar is working but is too big, and you want to make it smaller now?

    There should be a code available out there somewhere that will re size avatars automaticly for you. What is your forum version? Phpbb2?

    You will need to resize the image itself.

    Try putting this in your css... See if it helps
    Code:
    .post .postdetails.poster-profile a img {
      max-height:150px;
      max-width:150px;
    }

    Should automaticly resize avatars larger then 150 x 150 down to size Smile.

    Hope this helps,

    Some people prefer Transparent backgrounds, i was just asking.

    Also did brandon's code work for you or did you want me to resize it in Gimp?

    The code didn' work but you don't have to rezie it. I figured out how to re-size it myself
