I installed the "Like" button as instructed. But people cannot see the "Like" button on their own posts. Is there a way for people to see how many "likes" they received on their own posts?

Hello,
It should show how many likes the post recieved, however, it will not allow them to like their own posts.
Just for claritiy, you mean the reputation feature right?

Yes, the reputation feature. I don't see a place where it indicates how many "likes" you received on a particular post.

That's odd, it should've. You can see the percentage and what not for standard ones. Can you please link us to your forum?

Yeah, the standard one it may be hard to tell the exact number, because it only shows a green bar or green and red. If you look on the support forum, you may notice it will '1' or whatever the number of likes are, are shown to you.
What is the javascript you have installed for this? May you post it here?

you are using the LG like system that don't show a link on your own posts just other members as you can not like your self so the numbers will not show up sorry

You could use the standard FM system, but change the vote bar/button.

You can see the number in your own posts, but you can not like your own posts. You will only see the numbers when your posts are liked.

I can see the reputation points under my avatar, but can't see the number of likes for each of my posts. I understand I cannot like my own posts. As Ape explained, it is system you have installed that does not allow it tl show. That was how it was programmed by the developer.

If you look on this forum your see that the like button and number don't show up here on your own posts. The Like system that was made by LG forum was just a mask of what FM has made with the Blank Button on your own posts that there for is why your Votes don't show on your own posts as the system was not ever made by our host FM.
Edit: the code you are using was a modded system of the phpbb3 system and the phpbb2 was not ever made by the macker of the code it was then remade by some one else and by the looks of it that person did not ever add that part in to the code as you can see here
it is showing but that code was not ever made my LG it was some one else that made the real code work by making a lot of change to the system codes.

I think Ange re made the system himself for phpbb3, then I think @Michael_vx remade it so it would work on phpbb2 forums. There was a topic that he was trying to help someone get that like system to work on phpbb2 and managed to accomplish it. I have the code installed on my test forum.

You could just use the stadard one, but change the icon like I said above, or did you want it to say like specificly?

Well, I was hoping that there is a way to see the likes button that shows the number of likes next to it for your own posts. I am guessing that is not possible by using the javascript I copied (LG?). Right now we can see how many likes other people got on their posts, but our own posts. I guess we'll just have to live with it.
I don't want to use the +/- system, as the the use of minus (dislike) might hurt people's feelings.

You can change the standard system's icon to something else, that only allows a positive. I provided the link to a tutorial on how to do this in my above post.

the code you are using is a spin off from LG a member had to re wright the code and host it on a outside server that is why this is not showing in your own posts as the code was re wrote and that part of the code was not added to the Phpbb 2 system
without that member who is hosting it making the change to add that in there is no other way to do it with the code you are using as that is just a host java code.
