Solved Change the author of a post

Post by Rbjustme October 29th 2015, 12:13 am

My former host will not give me a copy of my data base from my forum, so I have to copy and paste nearly 18,000 posts over to my site here. On the earlier version of phpBB you could change the author of a post, but I cannot find away to do it here. I need to relocate the posts back to their original authors after pasting them on my new site. I have two years of work that I do not wont to lose, with some very dedicated members who helped build the site from the very first post.

Thank you in anticipation for you help.

    RB. Smile

I am using phpBB3, and the link to the new site is:

    Hi @Rbjustme,

To my knowledge, Forumotion does not have a feature to change the original author of a post. Unfortunately if you want the author to be a specific user, that user would need to post the message. If you want, you can make a suggestion for such a feature here : https://help.forumotion.com/f30-suggestions-for-your-forums

No problem, different hosts have varying features so they're bound to not all be the same. Wink

It'll most likely still be in use until the specified time that you purchased the domain for is up. You can however, cancel the domain name from where you originally brought it. It should be under :
Admin Panel > Misc > Credits Management > Spend Credits > Choose Domain Name

Have a good day and see you. bye

Thank you Ange Tuteur, but all is not lost, there may be a way around this yet. Is it likely if I request that the option of changing the posts author will be made available? as I have another alternative until such time....maybe. I do not want to remain with my current host!

The possibility of suggestions being implemented may take some time, as the technicians are usually busy with other projects. It also depends if the suggestion is deemed relevant or useful. My advice is to make a suggestion regardless, because if a lot of people agree then the chances of it being considered are a tad higher. Wink
