Solved Can I use Javascript in postings?

Post by Guest November 28th 2015, 11:22 pm

    Hello,

Not really sure where this question would fit, so here we are Hello

I made a HTML page with a Javascript. It contains a form with a few possible choices and chucks out a result to the user.
Now this is something we want to share with our users so I made it into a HTML page and uploaded it into the Modules section.

Now I have used an iFrame inside a normal post to show that form and they can use it.
Is this a problem? Or is this something that Forumotion forbids?
I do know not all hosters are happy or allow Javascripting that way.

Direct link to the post in question http://friendlyfarmer.actieforum.com/t601-form-test

    Thanks

Is there a reason why your members can not visit that page?  Did you create the page in your administration panel?

It is our testing area for Admins only, me and my girlfriend. This is a new feature we are testing out. And I want to make many more like it in a new FAQ section.

I write the HTML pages offline on my computer and if they are ready I upload the code to Admin Panel -> Modules -> HTML Pages Management. And then make it public by posting it in an iFrame on the forum.

It is not public because I wanted to ask if this is OK with Forumotion, it being Javascript and all.

You can use JavaScripts on your forum.  Maybe I am not really understanding what the issue is.  You can post the link to page on your forum where only members can see it, or create a navigation link in your menu.

Not all forum hostings allow Javascript inside posting, apparently for security reasons. It also does not work if I try to use the code directly in a post.
It only works via an iFrame like I did now. I am fairly new to this, so I have no idea if there is another way.
I do know that the link the forum generates in the HTML managment, also works outside our forum directly. No idea if I can prevent that from happening...

Anyway I want to make a few dozen of those calculators and they will be posted in a members only environment.

Ok.  You can not use JavaScript in post.  You can use HTML if you activate it for the whole forum and in your profiles.

It currently is displayed in a post via an iFrame, the Javascript code is not in the post itself but in a file in HTML management.
I am not entirely sure I understand your answer, sorry.

Is what I have currently done OK?

If there is nothing on the HTML page that breaks the Terms of Service, it will be ok.
