    In progress Newly Registered users

Post by Rbjustme January 7th 2016, 6:39 am

Is there a way that when a new user registers they are placed into a group that allows them to post?

    Explanation:

Guests: My interpretation of this is that they are non registered visitors? Their level of access is controlled via the Guest group permissions? I don't want non registered users posting or reading some parts of my forum, period. That's how I have set the permissions up for this group.

When a new members registers, they are automatically placed into the guests group and therefore cannot post and are limited to what they can view and read as before they registered. Not the ideal situation, and in fact would be annoying to the new member.

I have searched in the ACP but cannot find a way around this, so what am I missing here? Any help would be really appreciated.

    Kindest Regards,

    RB. Smile

New members are not placed in the guests group, but the members group.

Are you looking at the permissions here:  AP > General > Forum > Categories & Forums?  Also are you looking at the advanced permissions?

    Hi SLGray
Every member that has registered with my site has gone straight into the guests group, I have to manually place them in the members group. I always use the advanced ACP View.

    Hello,

What do you by 'guest group'? There is no default 'guest group' with Forumotion. Unless you are reffering to a group you created?

    Hi mate,

There is a guest group in my forum, but I did not create it, it has been there from the start?

I think I have what you are looking for.

You have a guests group where everyone is being sent to. I don't think you need it and you can delelte it. If you don't want to, go to and and turn off auto-subscribe on it.

To make all members join the Member's group, turn ON auto-subscribe for members and set the post level to 0. Smile

Are the guest and member groups set to auto-subscribe?

I have removed the Guests group, and auto-subscribed the members group mate. Thank you for your reply.

Was going to suggest that next actually. Even if you don't have another e-mail, just create on using a fake email address, then login to your admin account and activate the account manually.
