Hello. My forum has been open since October 2015.

Yesterday, two of my members got a message saying that the forum was reported as unsafe. I am totally lost as to why this happened. I need to resolve the issue. As far as I know, it is only happening for the 2 members.

We strive to follow all copyright rules & guidelines. We are very strict about the issue.

    Hello
Could you ask these members if they add by mistake a program called AV Security suite?

I will ask them. Thanks for trying to help me.

I did a search & I found where others had an issue similar to this a few years ago & it was caused
by a gif that had bad coding or something like that. I did add some new gifs yesterday, so I deleted them.
I asked the two members if they still received the message, but I don't expect to hear back for a few hours.

    Hello,

What browsers are the users having the issue using? If your not sure, may you please ask them for us?

May you also ask them if they use any sort of anti-virus software on their computer and if so, what it is? If they do have an anti virus program/software on their computer, try asking them to add your site to their anti virus's safe list (or white list if that is what their software calls it) to see if this helps.

If you can also ask them for a screenshot of the message ae well, that would be helpful. Smile

    -Brandon

Both members said that they have not added anything new to their computer (no new virus protection) or anything lately.

One did just get her laptop back from the shop, but they didn't tell her anything about adding a program.

Member "C" can't post from Microsoft web, but can from firefox. She wonders if it could be an issue with
    her Microsoft Smart Screen

Member "M" can't post from her Microsoft Edge. She is using Windows 10. I am not sure about member "C".

As mentioned before, I read where a few had an issue similar to this because of a gif they added. I added several
this week, so I removed them this morning. But.. some are still in my chat box smiley area. Could that be an issue?
I removed them from the smiley section for members to use in their forum posts.

yes its because they use the Smart screen.... if the Microsoft smart screen determines that a website is "malicious' you get that red warning, but you can expand the more information link on the warning page to bypass the warning
as far as i know you can also submit a request for a correction from the red warning by clicking report you will see a feedback page where you can say that you are the site owner or a representative... follow the instructions and submit your forum for review

This will help you remove this from your forum and please ask your members to do the same thing Smile

The problem comes from when some ad's like download and you have a message this was an update made by google some months back.

Check the attacker URL.  Check to see if you have any coding that has that link in it.

i have had a report from some members of virus warnings at......
    http://fcforum.forumotion.net/forum

a forum member wrote:Hi Roy...gota couple of teamies that are having probs with forum with a pop up from microsoft saying that this forum contains a virus......one of them contacted microsoft...they performed a remote check on their computer and microsoft confirmed that there was a virus threat within this forum...their computer was fine...but they said they should not try and come to this forum as they checked it and it was trying to steal all their info and put in viruses...just thought I would let u know

i have seen no such warnings myself, but that could be down to me using a mac and i haven't been affected.

not sure if this is related to the original post or not.
if it's not related please advise and i will open a new thread.
    thanks,

    hello
sometimes ...This site has been reported as unsafe... warning seeks to trick people into installing the trial version of AV Security Suite and then force you to buy the full version
i personally dont like that program i think its unable to detect or remove any viruses Hello

I've had seven members report similar. They are using either IE, Google Chrome or Safari. I use IE and have had no such warning.

    One member said

Im told my security has been compromised and that I need to call a certain number immediately or my computer will be locked. When I close the screen I get a big red page saying Ive been locked out and my financial data has been stolen and other info. It tells me again to call a number.

I can't leave the page and I have to shut down safari and log in again.

This does not happen when Im on any other site. I have good security protection too that has given me no warnings or breaching messages

    Another said

Me too in London on July 3rd...
I called the number as I was sleepless & lacking focus, so believed the pop up was legit.
Then I realized immediately after some Indian call centre creep had accessed my screen. I hung up... He called back... I hung up again... Disconnected my computer from powerpoint & internet for a few minutes.
    Called Apple.
They told me to reboot & upgrade to latest operating system. Then add spyware.
    I changed all my passwords.

I left London the next day and the computer froze on the upgrade. Apple Mac Notebook. On Safari.
    Computer still there. Upgrade incomplete.

One of our members got this message:

Just got another redirect to an unsafe website http://www.ads-systemoptimization.top/?pcl=HbI8PZesB2uzf13vvEFBoUX5NGqibPflTStP7fu8ZXU.&cid=P23P39R4689001541274507749&sub=4300

    Another member got this:

    www.ads-systemoptimization
    and this
    disturbedfestive. com

Two of them have also gotten the red screen with message. But that sounds like it is a smart screen issue.
