My normal process to activate a new account for my forum is via the email notification but for the last 2 days it hasn't been working and I get a message saying the forum doesn't exist. I can activate using the admin panel.
Is there now a problem activating using the email link ?

Is your forum inactive at all? Meaning does it get very few posts of the course of a few days? If so, this is probably the reason for your issue. Last year Forumotion implemented a new security feature in order to try and prevent spammers from getting on to in active forumotion forums.

What the security feature does is require an administrator to activate all new accounts on an inactive forum regardless of what the setting is ticked to in the admin panel. Once the forum is active (gets a certain number of posts in a couple days), the setting will automatically revert back to the setting ticked in the admin panel and you wont have do this no more.

So if your is inactive and doesnt get many posts, then all you have to do, is get it re active and post around some more and when you get enough posts and activity. The system will automatically revert back to your admin panel setting.
