In progress restore a forum to earlier date

Post by Flappypaddles October 28th 2016, 12:32 pm

I have been trying to restore a forum to an earlier date as I inadvertently changed some CSS code and need to restore it.

when I use the admin tools it keeps coming back with

    The restore day is erroneous

there is a drop down list of restore dates and non of them seem to work.

Is there no chance of restoring the forum even a week or 2 back

It hasn't been used for some time and I am about to reactivate it.

    Thanks,

    its about 3 years old.
the issue may be that the admin account is under the same email address as my other forum, not sure if that would affect it restoring

    Hello,

I think the reason why it didn't work must be because you didn't let it finish. You need to stay on the page even if it is taking some times otherwise the backup doesn't work. I can do one from my side, what kind of backup do you want?

sorry, no I dont need it restored now, I found a copy of the CSS I needed restoring.
but the question still remains about the error message.
Is it because the forum has not been active for some time perhaps?

No, when I have checked your forum with my tools it seems like you haven't done any backup which happens often when a founder quits the page too soon.

I wasn't trying to do a backup, it was a restore, I was under the impression backups occurred automatically

Flappy paddles, What Leviosa meant by back up was a restore. It is just another way of saying it .

Do you still need a restore done or no?

    Hello.

our backup system makes a copy of your forum every 7 to 10 days when you log in to your backup tools you need to have your account open on a new tab and your founders tools on a at the same time.

    so its like this:
Log in your founders account on the forum.
Now open a new tab on your browser and log in on your founders tools account.
Now once in your founders tools you need to do a restore from the backup dates

now you have to hold on for the popup to say your forum was backed up then you need to do a 2nd backup / restore so the system would make your forum backup the right way.

It will not matter how long your forum has not been used as long as you do the backup / restore the right way.

no longer required as I found a copy of the css,
however I could not restore the forum as it came up with

    The restore day is erroneous

despite having dates going back to 2015

    all returned that message

but you can close this now
