Flash player Trojan attacks?

Description of problem

A member of my board reported the following: "I've recently started getting what seems to be flash player trojan attacks on my computer (an older Mac OSX). I would be on the forum and then suddenly I get a loud flashing alarm telling me to update my flash player. I usually turn off the computer and then log back on. So far I think it has only happened when I am here. Is it a problem with my system or is it a problem within this website? Lately I've been using Firefox as the browser when I've logged on here, but I've used Chrome in the past too."

Is this a forumotion malware problem or is it something related to his computer?

Does the member mean that a pop up appears?

From the user: "it seemed to be a flashing screen with a plain gray mostly blank page with a smaller window on top talking about the flash player. There was a a loud alarm sound when this page popped up and I think a female voice announcing the warning. I was in such a hurry to turn off the computer that I'm not sure if there were any other details.

I believe it only happened when I was here. I was on Firefox when it happened--not sure if that means anything. At the moment neither my computer or the two browsers I use is up to date because I can't afford an updated system at the moment. "

Updating browsers do not cost money.

From user: "So far I've been logging in here using Chrome. So far so good that the problem hasn't reappeared. I haven't tried going back on Firefox at the moment. Hopefully the earlier anti-virus that my husband installed has helped.

Because of my older Mac OSX operating system, I now cannot download updated versions of Chrome and Firefox. I'm not able to afford a new system right now, so I'm trying to make do with what I have."

So it looks like switching to Chrome helped. She must be on a really old Mac OSX system. I guess we should consider this problem solved. Thank you everyone for your help.
