    Solved Insecure Forum

Post by Norton February 1st 2017, 5:30 am

I just updated my browser (Firefox) and now in the address bar it displays a lock with a red strike through it that indicates my forum is insecure. Exploring the message further it informs me that "The owner of www.xxxxxxxxxxx.net has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website".
I have searched through the settings in the AP and don't see were the problem is.
I think it requires https:// in the forum address for security reasons? Nothing has been recently changed in the AP config settings. The browser warning appeared after the recent update.Your help at resolving this important issue would be appreciated.

    Godfather Hi
Unfortunately, I didn't read your post on the problem before posting. It was kind of scary to see the warning "Unsecure site"
Thanks for looking into my concern. BTW The unsecure warning doesn't doesn't
show in IE or Edge browsers, Firefox vers 51.01 is my preferred browser.

    Hello,

Regarding your return, it's directly linked to this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t150283-information-about-new-secure-connection-protocol-standards

Firefox wrote:In order to clearly highlight risk to the user, starting this month in Firefox 51 web pages which collect passwords but don’t use HTTPS will display a grey lock icon with a red strike-through in the address bar.

    So you have three solutions:

    - Change nothing. It's just an alert to inform your users about the protocole HTTP. But the security of your forum is always good!
    - Don't display the login form on your homepage. Because this alert is just avalaible on web pages which collect passwords but don’t use HTTPS.
    - Run your forum in HTTPS.

    Best,
