    In progress Signature coding issues...

    Post by KemicalCandy June 12th 2017, 6:17 pm

    I'm hoping I posted this issue in the correct forum. TT

    Anyway, I have this piece of code for a templated signature (just to use as an example):

    Code:

    On another forum I use, it neatly shows up like this when completed and used as a signature:
    Signature coding issues... HCHkAxO

    However, when I copy the code over to my forum (while changing the text sizes, since that's the only differing code), it ends up a cluttered mess all the way down my screen. Here is a super zoomed out photo to show you:

    Signature coding issues... Untitl10

    Both forums use BB coding and have the same type of codes except for text size numbers, which I did change. So what's the deal here, am I missing something?

    Accidentally stuck the wrong template code in (was going to use a different example at first) but it now matches the example image shown!

    I cleared my cache, but the issue still remains! Thumb down

    So both forums are phpBB 2?

    The forum I am referring to is a very popular adoptables website/forum, so I'm not sure if I can look at whether or not it's a phpBB 2. It sure does look like one though. Here is a link to their forum, hopefully you can still see the page without having an account: http://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/index.php

    Edit: But yes, my forum is a phpBB 2.

    Well this particular forum isn't being used yet, I just know of the issue through my older one (http://warriorslife.forumotion.com/) but they are the same version so it goes for both. Here is the link to my new forum anyway: http://websoup.forumotion.com/

    Because the forum isn't in use yet, there are no topics, so I made a test topic here and went to set my signature with the example code shown in my first post above. Because of how messed up the code gets and how far it stretches down the screen, it warns me that my signature is far too long. In signature preview, it does show the same exact picture as what I already provided for an example screenshot above.

    (Yes I have set a signature length limit on my forum - not a character limit - and I don't want to go through the process of removing it when I already have the issue screenshotted above. ^-^')

    I don't understand anything from that screenshot, and anyway, I can get a what I mean from a photo. As long as you don't put a signature there, i can't help you.

    I removed the CSS code that limits signature heights on my forum and set the above coded signature template example as my signature on my forum, but it looks like forumotion itself even dislikes how long the messed up coding causes my signature to be.

    Since you must see this for yourself on my forum, I will now provide entirely new screenshots and examples below:

    Signature coding:
    Code:
    [center][left][img]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/3d/dc/be/3ddcbe563839cf5bcee3fc695bc4877a.jpg[/img][/left][img]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/cf/30/ca/cf30cab19c2aee4f5e44919575655d4f.jpg[/img]

    [b][size=105]^ PLEASE CHECK OUT MY FORUM ^

    community for general chatter,
    sharing artwork, and semi-lit role playing
    [/b][/size][/center]

    How it's supposed to appear:
    Signature coding issues... Sigex10

    How it appears on my own forums:
    Signature coding issues... Sigex210

    And here is the link to a topic on my forum so you can see it for yourself: http://websoup.forumotion.com/t6-test-thread#8

    My forum is phpbb2, and the forum I am using to show what the coding is meant to look like is still http://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/index.php

    The BB codes for both forums are the exact same except text size numbers, which I have altered to fit forumotion in everything you are seeing.

    Code:

    div[align="left"] {
        float: left;
    }

    div[align="right"] {
        float: right;
    }

    Maybe vertical-align would help in this case? (vertical-align: top)

    P.S. In this case I would also have:
    display: inline-block; // need to have width setup for this to work Wink
    vertical-align: top;

    Hi,

    I took a look at your forum and it seems to display the signature as it should.

    Thanks to vietkanpy's code they provided, signatures now show up properly; however, now when previewing a post I am writing, my signature's text and images run up and mix together with the post itself.

    I already explained why that is in an earlier post, and I provided new material to work with.
