Users registrers but can't proceed

I just came across an annoying thing on my website, people can't registre for some odd reason?

You can fill in username and email all you want but it will keep coming up with an error name saying that the name or email is taken, when its not. And I've checked my settings, they should be alright as far as I know.

EDIT: I checked my newest registered, and the users came up, but for some reason you don't proceed after passing the validation, you just get back to start, and get told that the username/email is taken with no email send to you.. So why is this happening?

What username is the user trying to use when register? If it a first name and nothing else or only a couple of letters our system might deny it if it thinks too common of a username. Now you ticked the setting that says un authorize subscriptions with most common spam names to no, so this should make this less likely to happen, but it can still happen.

Has your user tried a different username?

The username in it self, aren't a problem anymore, they do work, i tried some different ones. The problem is, that when you registrer on the page and are done with the validation, it goes back to info site of the registration and says the username is already taken, or the email is already in use, instead of going to a thank you page, which says something along:

Thank you for joining our community, you will get an e-mail with a validation link to activate your profile/user. (or something along those lines).

Does it send a validation email when the process is complete though?

Nope, not getting any.

Edit: just tried to do so. I have to activate them manually in the adminstration

Do you have any codes in your admin panel (javascript, etc). If so, may you try performing a couple tests for me?

May you temporarily disable javascript (can be done in acp-->Modules-->Javascript management-->Enable javascript-->No and save) and force the css of the forum back to basic css temporarily as well (can be done in acp-->display-->Pictures and colors-->Colors-->CSS Stylesheet-->Force css to basic css--> tick to yes and save). Then try creating an account and see if the same problem occurs.

Same thing happend, and all of my CSS is gone too... can't figure out how to recreate it... :s

If you used the option I said before of setting the force to use basic css thing to yes, then it should be as simple as ticking no and saving and it should put your css back to the way it was before.

I deleted the temporary theme in a failed attempt to recover it... x_x its gone for ever now right?

yes if you deleted a temp skin then yes its gone forever as we don't save temp skins on our backup system.

OMG..... I feel like crying right now xD.. Well it didnt change anything for registration, there is still no email when joining

Hmm that is strange it could be that the Emails are in the members spam files.
This is known to be the case as some hosts like Hotmail look for the text Noreply and see it as a spam Email.

Right now all our Emails when a new account is made has this name at the start so the address can be seen as spam until the members Whitelist the address ( mark it as not spam)

I ran a test on my forum and got a Email fine so I know it's not our system or i would have found the same problem.

What i will do is make an account on your forum and see if i also get the same problem or not.

What you can do is try a backup on your forum from 26/12/2017 then when that backup is done you then back it up for the 2nd time on 02/01/2018 this would be skin and theme only

This will give you back the forum as it was before the mess up.

okay I just made a test account and YES you do have a problem you don't get no page telling you the Email was sent and you Don't get a Email sent out to the members.

If you do the backup of your skin and let me know what your done by posting here I will then make a report to our team but sadly the office is closed until monday morning French time.

Well i restored back to the date you proposed, and going to change the layout over time.. again.. So i'm making a backup save today. (:

Ok I didnt see Ape's reply, I tried to make a test account as well. Didnt work. You may delete my account if it appears in the admin panel.

Hello I have some news on this but still not classed as fixed.

We have had some server problems on our end and that could be why you are getting this problem.

Good news I have just tested your forum again and the problem is now fixed I got the Email and successfully made and an account your your forum with an Email and the page telling me to ok my own account.

This problem is now fixed
