    Hi there,

I'm currently doing a GDPR audit of our services and we offer support using forumotion - I need to stipulate and specify if the data on your servers is encrypted (if so, what type).

I also need to declare if the data users enter, such as their name, email address, birthday, passwords etc... is collected by yourselves and/or passed on to third parties.

We need to also specify where the severs are located country and region.

This is part of a privacy policy we are updating for GDPR compliance which goes into effect May 25th this year.

    Hello,

Of course all the data is encrypted. As for where the servers are they are all over the world, main ones are in france where our head office is, but we do have others around the world. Us volunteer staff do not know exact locations.

As far as how forumotion uses information, it is outlined in our terms of service: https://www.forumotion.com/terms-of-service .

    Hi Brandon,

Thank you. Do you know what type of encryption is used?

    Is it: AES, 3DES etc...?

I noticed in the terms it states how the data will most likely be passed on to third-parties.

"We are likely to share non-personal information in collective form with third parties.

When we do appeal to third parties in the processing of your personal information, we ensure that they respect our rules of confidentiality as well as any appropriate confidentiality and security measures. "

Is this for users/members of the forum, or just the owner/administrator of the site?

    Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what kind of encryption is used, I just know everything is encrypted and secure.

That sections applies to everyone who uses our services, whether they may owners, administrators, members, etc. Also note that it says non personal information. Personal information is not shared I believe.

Edit: Also if you are referring to the new 'law' in the uk, if there is any changes that need to be made to remain compliance, you can rest assured forumotion will make them.

    Hello Wing6704

the encryption method is SHA256 + EC ☺

For what concerns the usage of your information on third-services... those services are forumotion’s partners, such as Topicit, Servimg, etc... So even if they are described as “third services”, they are still under the forumotion family... no worries then!

another way they may use your information could be for advertisement... 👍🏻

    Have a nice day!
