Time in minutes offline Empty Time in minutes offline

    Post by VickySayer83 Mon 16 Apr - 15:55

    Hello

I have searched and cannot find an answer to my Q.

I’m sure there used to be an option for users to be logged in for an unlimited amount of time but now it is limited to 60 mins in the user options.

    Is there any alternative?

Or is 60 mins the max?

    Thanks.

As far as I know this was never a thing as well, or atleast hasn't been since I started using the service (2011). Not sure why you would want people to appear as online even when they are not. That would lead to quite a bit of confusion I believe, as people would want to know why people, when there is so many people 'online' are they not responding to topics and stuff.

Yes, 60 minutes has always been the maximum of time for a user to consider online.

Okay. Thanks. I must have imagined it then, as I thought there was a function which meant you didn’t need to relog in every time.... just for ease really and I will never have the problem of too many users logged “online” as it’s only a small forum!

There is a box to check when you login.  Is that what you mean?

Hmm yes. Maybe there used to be another option to stay logged in permanently there. It really doesn’t matter. I was just wondering if I had missed something in the admin panel!

The feature you are talking about only applies to the users showing as online at the bottom of the forum.

You can hit remmeber me which will relogin everytime the site is loaded. Just bare in mind once a month Forumotion does a cookie dump on the servers for security reasons, but all you have to do is relogin once a month.

The feature you are talking about is completely unrelated to the remmeber me feature.

Yeah I see what you’re saying. It’s fine honestly, there definitely used to something else that allowed you to stay logged in permanently, but I am going back a long time and it honestly doesn’t matter. i was like I say just checking I hadn’t missed anything obvious.

Thats basically what the feature above does. It re logs you back in automatically as the site loads. Its basically the same thing. It makes it so you don't have to manually sign in everytime.
