    In progress adding a meta and charset to my forum.

    Post by loster31345 January 19th 2019, 11:05 pm

    So im wirking on a app, that makes things alot easier for me. but when this app opens a new internett page it opens it in default IE7. so sins IE7 does not support javascripts. i get alot of errors and the page wont load properly. However theres a solution to this, which is to have this "<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=10">" in the head of the html script. because this force the browser to open the page in IE10. So ive succsesfully fixed the pages hosted by myself. but i cant change the code for my forum hosted by you guys Forumation. is it possible to solve this? Because it would be awesome if it could load the forum properly, because now it cant be used that way.

    Thank you so much for taking your time reading this^^

    What exactly does this do for you on your forum?

    you mean what the metatag does?
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=10">

    This just specify that the page is gonna use IE10, which will say internett explorer 10, and not the default IE7. the different between IE7 and IE10 is that in IE7 javascripts will not run. if you open the forum in internett explorer it opens in IE10. But visual studio have a problem with its default IE broswer, which has IE7 mode as default. So if i specify that its gonna open the page in IE10. it works without giving me any errors, and the javascripts works

    Your forum should open up on the members default browser it would not make sense to make a browser open in any other browser. Like me I never use IE in any way shape of form so if your site told my laptop to open IE 10 or IE 7 then your site would not open at all as I don't have IE on my laptop at all it's removed.

    you would be better off making your code work to any browser so your members can use your site with NO problems at all.

    Please also note that most laptops and computers now use Edge now not IE7 or 10 as they are well out of date.

    Its not the borswer but in what mode, also the pages which ive done it to. can still be open in chrome, opera and those browsers with out getting any problems. because on computers today they use mode 10 by default. but windows xp uses mode 7. but i dont really know why visual studio uses mode 7 by default, when if you open the page in internett exploerer or anything else your using mode 10. SO it would be really awesome if there would get a option in the administration panel, where you could toggle if you want to use the meta or not.

    Sadly this is not something we can help you with, we would not update our ACP to deal with this kind of thing it would take to long to make it and test it.

    If your still running windows xp, your going to want to get a pc with windows 10 asap, as support for xp ran out a couple years ago now and it is no longer secure or safe to use. Windows 7 will have the same problem in a year's time so it would be best to just go to 10.
