Hi

Lately, the forum has changed, any guest posts it show anonymous instead of showing name of the guest

I wonder if the sudden change to 'Anonymous' is linked to this update (its been about a week or two): https://help.forumotion.com/t157691-information-username-not-clickable-for-guests-in-the-last-messages-column

Maybe something in that update triggered the change.

Of course this is just a guess.

In my Dutch forum I have the same problem.. it should say in Dutch "Gast" (which means guest) but now it says Anonymous too in English.. so I think you are right @brandon_g this could very well be related to that update..

It 's not resolved, just change from Anonymous to Guest

Before , it showed guest name, not just a letter "Guest"

the name Guest is what the system always used it has never gave a name unless they are members of the forum or if a member deletes the account the name will change from the members name to guest.

1, If a member deletes their account the name will change to = Guest
2, If some one lets non members post the account will show up and = Guest
The post are the only ones that should have a username as a guest if they post in guest mode.

not really, it shows guest name for many years, I use this forum 4,5 years already

I have not really seen them show anything besides 'Guest' in my years of using the service, it has always said guest. The guest 'name' can only be changed on a post by post bases, so it only shows in the post.

The only time i have ever seen the username is when a member posts as a guest then it was only ever in the topic made never in the last topic on the main forum is has always been guest for the last 10 years as far as i can remember.
it's always been here but never here and like i said if a member deleted the account on the forum then it was always named guest and the account is never found again as it's removed from our servers.

because the forum has changed , so you only see the letter "guest" now, of course

and it just happened a few weeks ago

my guests use it for almost 5 years already

If you can not solve the problem, it 's fine but it 's NOT SOLVED, do not say PROBLEM SOLVED

Just replace the word Guest instead of Anonymous

like I said and will keep saying the system has not changed as far as I can tell the only problem was the name Guest was it changed the name guest to anonymous Now that's fixed.

It has never said in the last topic's the name of the member if they was a guest it has always said guest for the last 10 years I have been with FM.

You reported the Word anonymous was in-place of the word Guest this was fixed like we reported.
so then this is now solved.

Deleted members = The name Guest
Non members = The name Guest (in last topic Column)
Non members post's = The name they add & the rank Guest

This has always been the same for all the time I have been working for FM and using it as a member.

Maybe we can ask for this to be change but I can't see this happening.

You can not have members with the guest nick in your forum, only if your account is deleted they appear as guests
any user who writes in your forum and is not registered, will have to put a name before sending the subject, and can not put the one of guest, because it is prohibited by the system.

in our systems a guest is not anonymous, because he is a known user, banned or that he deleted his account

Personally I prefer Anonymous to Guest, but it should stay as a rank - not a text
This one truly happenned a few week ago without any notice

it was the list of all topics and showed member names and guest name by cache system on Feb 18, 2018, this is one of the example I want to show. It seems to me this forum can not solve the problem but keep denying it and talk around

Hello,

We launched a fix yesterday which replaced "Anonymous" by "Guest". The modification sent yesterday by the technical team restored the standard behavior of the forums in this situation.

The team will do some checking regarder the text with BOLD + the name of the Guest and we will keep you informed.

Yeah, I'm sorry but looks like they will only drive you around in circle with same questions and so called "answers" untill you say it's solved so they can lock it... I'm sorry. I would like to try something in JS but as that info of last poster is not shown on threads list I can hardly do it... Maybe only if I somehow get to thread and check it, but that could be blocked or something as a bot and it will take a lot to load page as it should load few different pages so I won't reccomend that but if you would still like to have that, probably I can try something but I can't promise anything...

I really do not see an issue.  Since it was posted by a guest, it will say guest in the topic list.  Only when you read the posts in the topic will you see the name the guest used.  One guest could use many different names on one forum.

The Godfather has already said he will talk to the team about the problem and keep you in the loop on any thing that comes up until them we will have to just hold on until the team come up with a fix.

posting the same thing over and over will not hurry things along.
