In reply to the suggestion made in our community, and in accordance with good web practices, we have added some new features to Private message box, namely the ability to mark your private messages as read or unread and the information on the number of unread messages which is displayed directly in the navigation menu.
Here is what this improvement of the PM box is in detail.
As it was already the case, when you log into the forum and there are new PMs, the alert in the navigation menu will report it. No changes here.

However once the page is visited, if you have unread PMs, it is no longer the title "You have no new messages" which is displayed, but "You have X unread messages".
To improve the management of your PMs, we have also added a new feature : “Mark as read” / “Mark as unread”.
Thus, two new buttons are available in addition to already existing buttons, integrating in an intuitive way the PM management panel.
In order for this update to work optimally on the forum, administrators who have customized the template privmsgs_body must absolutely take the modifications below into account.
