Forum home page loads too slow

Hello,

I would like to get some help with my forum.

It is an old forum (created in 2008). The version is either phpBB2 or phpBB3.
The problem is that the home page started loading very slowly and I cannot find the reason for it. It lasted for a good while from a few years back. Recently, in the last two weeks it seemed to have fixed itself somehow, however yesterday it started again. Only the home page and category links load slowly. If you jump straight to the discussion forums it seems to be fine. I have tried deleting images, scripts, disabling widgets, even changing the skin to a temp one altogether but the problem persists. I have imported the current forum skin to a brand new test forum with all the java scripts, etc that are used and it works just fine.
Slow load happens on all browsers that I have tried to open the forum on (Firefox, Google Chrome, Edge) for guests, administrator and members altogether.

If anyone could point out the issue and maybe fix it if possible it'd be a great help. I am not a programmer so I have done everything I could think of from my end and I just cannot find where the problem lies.

Very sorry about that. I just made everything visible to guests as well. As you can see, the main page loads really slow. As well as if you try to jump to a category (for example beginning). But everything else loads fast as it should.

please try these steps
- deactivate the javascript to see if the problem is solved
- force the default templates to see if the problem is solved

it might be the version ..when you import the skin to another test forum what version did you use ?

Thanks. I have tried disabling javascript before but it did not work at all. I have done that just now too. As well as I activated the force default templates function just now but it did not fix the problem either it seems. The new test forum is phpBB3.

i think you have the same version can you check it please from here




usually this issue is from a script that is not running

the issue is your homepage so it might be a conflict between a script placed on the homepage or the homepage template

try one more thing please disable the CSS also to check

Yes. I just checked thanks. Both the old and the test forum versions are the same - phpBB3. They both have the same skin imported. I tried adding everything, all settings, functions to the test forum and it works fine. It is quite sad that it happened to the original forum. I assumed it is a problem with forumation in general. Maybe because my forum is just old and outdated and a bug happened due to new updates.

I also tried disabling css. Did not work.

edit: for a moment its was loading ok

Nothing changed for me opening the forum on any of the browsers both logged in and as a guest. Nor to other people who tried opening it just now.

I have also run my forum through the website and these are the results. As I understand the problem is with DNS?

Oh my god, thank you! I deleted that javascript a long time ago (and I mean many years ago) but I guess I missed that part of the code since it was pasted into a different section. The forum works fine now. Thank you so much for your help!
