Adding emoticons doesn't work

Hi all,

I noticed that adding new emoticons doesn't seem to work.

The system of adding emoticons has recently changed; there are two different ways how to add emoticons: select files or upload by URL, but neither of these two methods work.

I've been waiting for a longer time to see if it gets fixed automatically, but it still doesn't work and I couldn't find a topic about it, so maybe the error is only mine.

Just tried uploading a smiley - it worked.



Clarification, please:
1) What exactly happens when you try to upload a smilie?
2) What version of Google Chrom are you using? It is advisable to have the latest version. Have you tried other browsers to upload smilies?
3) What operating system do you have?
4) Please provide a link to the smilie which you're trying to upload.

Strange. I tried uploading the same crying smiley by those both ways through Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, still nothing happened (no reaction). I used my computer as before and now I also tried my laptop with Edge, but it's exactly the same.

The answers to clarification:
1. If I click on the "Select Files" button, then a window opens with my files in the folder, but when I select one, the window usually disappears, but nothing happens (it doesn't respond). I can try again "Select Files" button, the window appears again, I select the file and the window disappears as before, no change, no next step, I can't get any further and haven't reached the stage on your screenshot.
2. I don't know the version of my browser on my PC and when it was last updated, but my laptop uses newer software (the laptop was purchased at the end of last year).
3. Windows 10 (PC), Windows 11 (laptop)

Update: I also used an smartphone with Android system and it is exactly the same.

Are you clicking the green button (plus) to the right of the box?

Hi. Thank you for your replies, but unfortunately, no, the problem still is.

Of course I clicked on the plus button and tried to do it according to the tutorial as well but it doesn't do anything. The files can be selected and confirmed, but not uploaded, the field is always empty. The files which I selected are nowhere to be found and clicking the plus button does nothing, nor the second button below. It doesn't respond at all.

This is not how it should be. In the tutorial it works quite clearly and easily.

When you are in the AP do you have any extensions on in your browser? If yes, turn them off.

I don't know about any of them. I just use the browser without making it easier to use by extensions and do the same with all three devices (PC, laptop, smartphone), it doesn't work with any.

Otherwise, similar uploading images to Servimg.com works normally.

I think the problem has a simpler solution - how many smileys do you have on the forum?
You have quite a few categories with different smileys.



Reminder: The maximum number of smileys is 255.

You may have "outdated smileys" that you don't use. Delete them and try uploading new ones.

I hadn't thought of that at all, that could be possible.

So I reduced the number of smileys to 168 and nothing has changed. Still can't add new emoticons.


UPDATE: Now i tried upload gifs again and it works. I don't know what happened, just noting that I didn't do anything with my browser what we talked about before. Apparently it wasn't even the number of emoticons because the limit wasn't reached (or some time was needed?). I don't know. It looks like someone helped out in a technical way and thank you very much for that.

@Militia Dei problem may come from your browser or internet connection, try clear your browser cache and open your site in incognito mode next time

Hi how are you getting your emoticons ?
are they on your computer or is it a ULR ?

I have tested on my test forum and all looks to be working fine.
Maybe you could send me a test account by PM with admin right's so i can try this my self before i report it as a bug.

I have the same problem, since the system for adding emoticons has changed
