There is a function for all first posts in the administration panel.
Go to: Administration Panel > General > Messages and emails - Configuration and search for "Always show the first post in the topics" set this on "Yes" and click on the save button.

I think the user is suggesting to have the possibility of having this only in selected topics, and not in all of them.
Seems to me a good idea, so i will vote for yes
