If only you (other administrators and/or moderators) receive spam, then guests can use the contact form to send spam.
You can prevent links from being placed in the contact form: AP - General - Emails and contact - Allow external links and emails - No - Save.
Also, AP - General - Security - Unauthorize unofficial forms to post messages and private messages on the forum - No - Save.
This feature will make life difficult for spammers on your forum.
