activation - Activation by users problem :) Empty Activation by users problem :)

Post by zla palacinka July 3rd 2008, 3:24 am

I also have a problem. It is chosen that the User does an activation. But when I have a new member he does not get an activation e mail... and I get him in my INACTIVE USERS listing. So I have to activate them myself. Though I put User manual activation option???

Please help.

Has the member told you that he does not get an activation email? even if someone does get an activation email, they still will appear in the inactive user list if they have not activated their account

New members do not get activation mail at all. They only appear in the inactive users list.

I know that. I can activate new members as Admin, from inactive users list. But I want to make users to activate themselves by activation mail. But I cannot make it. When I choose option that sends activation mail to new members, they do not get it, they just appear in inactive list, as the option ACTIVATE By ADMIN has been chosen. And I didnt chooose THAT option. But another one.

I assume the users that don't recieve the email have registered with a hotmail account? Tthis email provider used to have problems forwarding our activation emails. Users have to either use another email address or you activate those with hotmail manually in the inactive users tab.

Well those were from other mails. gmail, yahoo etc... I even tried to register with my private eunet.rs mail..

But it doesn't work

So it is not a problem only with hotmail...

It's working properly on your board - I have just registered and activated the account through the activation email. Wink

You can delete the temporary account "FM_Sunny" again.

There are all kinds of reasons members are not getting the activation emails, and in almost every case it is not because of forumotion. Have people check their ISP's for mail filtering. Many use very strong mail filters to avoid spam, and they may not be allowing mail from forumotion to get through. They should also check their spam folder. AOL is notorious for screwing with incoming mail filters, and many places absolutely refuse to allow anything from yahoo or especially hotmail through.

I have this same problem, 11 new users registered yesterday, and I had to activate them all manually, I also then went to search users in admin panel and sent each one an email saying they are now activated, but still on the member list it says last visit = NEVER!

I have 255 members but about 200 of those have never even visited???? This is a BIG problem and forumotion needs to address this I am paying for advertising and getting the members but they do no receive activate email?? This is BIG problem!

And yes it is set to USER not ADMIN to activate!
