It kinda waste the mods time to lock it all the time, and what if the member has extra questions about their problem?

It's the members responsibility to ensure that the support given is correct and works, then add the solved tag. If they say "Thank You" or similar, that tells us the problem is solved.Adiex wrote:i seen some topic locked not more than a minutes after thread starter say his problem is solved. My point here is what if he find out that solution given not totally solve his problem there? what if there is some issue relating that problem still not solved? Did he must to create another thread for same problem?
indeed, maybe it not trouble regular members, but im talking about newbie here because usually this group got most question to ask.Scamite wrote:It's the members responsibility to ensure that the support given is correct and works, then add the solved tag. I agree, and then people start to go off-topic and so on.Scamite wrote:OK. Here's what happens.
When a members problem is solved, either they add the solved tag themselves, or a member of staff will add it, then lock the thread. The reason why we lock solved threads is to prevent members from spamming them - it's not a waste of time... it take no longer than 30 seconds.
If a member has more questions to ask, they are more than welcome to open a new thread, after having used the search feature for the answer(s).
It's all standard procedure.
Voted no I agree with you zinexzinex wrote:locking the topic is the best idea, i have seen many people jump on other peoples threads with their own problems, people sending the topic off topic etc. It also avoids the team having to go through each post to make sure its been sorted, as we see the locked/solved tag...that saves time, it doesnt waste it.
