I'd really want to bring back the community, but there's a lot of things he can do that I can't because he is the founder!

The founder needs to be absent (not inactive - there is a difference) for 6 months. Once the founder has been absent for 6 months, get in touch with Caihlem or Typlo who will work with you to transfer the founding account over to another one of the forum administrators.
