    The only restrictions would be those on the size, which you can set in the admin panel.

    To complete my two friends here, yes you're limited in the avatar's "size" or weigt

    Basically it just means that you can't have a really heavy gif image, but as you can see with Xaphania'savatar, it's possible to have it gifed Wink
